Year 1 level 3 Fashion and Textiles students have been working on repeat print techniques for their current project. Each student chose their own themes within the subject 'Natural Forms' such as leaves, water, woodlands, jellyfish and more. Within their theme they have been experimenting with designing their own hand drawn prints using various techniques. In this workshop session with tutor Marie they hand drew their initial print idea, repeated it around a circle, inverted it and then used paper folding and pinning techniques to display on the mannequin in unusual ways to create garment ideas. These designs could be printed on fabric or used as inspiration for 3D garment silhouettes. This is a simple but effective technique using just hand drawing and a photocopier to create unusual and innovative garment ideas.
