For their first assignment of the year our first year level 3 Fashion and Textile students were tasked with researching the links between fashion and architecture. Each student chose a style of architecture or an architectural detail as their inspiration and developed ideas for a sculptural bodice using a range of materials and techniques. In our workshop sessions we looked at fabric manipulation methods, using unconventional materials and different architecture movements. Each student made their garment from start to finish and as a group they organised a photoshoot in the photography studio and styled and photographed their outcomes.
