HNC Art Practice are nearing completion of their first assignment titled Zones and Scapes and meeting their first summative deadline. The students have produced impressive and substantial bodies of work including observational drawings, illustrations, screenprints and large-scale mixed media works. Central research sources have been Andrei Tarkovsky’s classic film Stalker and the book from which it was adapted, Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. Early on in the first term HNC Art Practice attended a challenging and engaging sculpture workshop in Wicksteed Park with the artist Susan Williams MRSS and in November all of our HE students visited Coventry (the current UK City of Culture) to see the Turner Prize Exhibition and the Coventry Biennial.
